Keeping her doors open amidst the devastation of the Second World War, Belperron adapted her designs to use less precious materials, as fine metals were rationed and precious gemstones rare.  Never allowing the limitations of war to affect her color palette or design, she utilized semi-precious beads and carved hard stones to create this innovative and whimsical brooch.
